ECLÉCTIC, -Ă I. adj. referitor la eclectism, care dă dovadă de eclectism, care promovează eclectismul; care alege din diferite sisteme părerile cele mai convenabile; care îmbină elemente diverse din diferite școli, genuri etc. II. s. f. alegere și îmbinare după diverse criterii a unor idei, concepții etc. eterogene sau chiar opuse. III. s. m. f. adept al eclectismului filozofic. (< fr. éclectique, gr. eklektikos)
EMPÍRIC, -Ă, empirici, -ce,adj. Bazat numai pe experiența senzorială. ♦ adj. Bazat (numai) pe experiență; care privește empirismul, care are la bază empirismul. ♢ Formulă empirică = formulă obținută prin prelucrarea pur matematică a unor date experimentale, fără substrat teoretic. Medicină empirică = tratament al bolilor numai pe bază de experiență și de cazuri antecedente. – Din fr. empirique, lat. empiricus.
